Known for her keen wit, intelligence, and creative talents, Joan Hollingsworth, age 78 passed away on Thursday, August 25th in North Augusta, South Carolina after a lengthy battle with diabetes and other health issues. Daughter of the late John Terrell Finch and Dorothy Louise Warren Finch of Powder Springs, GA, Joan attended North Georgia College and spent most of her adult career working in the banking industry. Employed by such companies as Scientific Products, Fredrickson Motor Lines, and Central Motor Lines, she spent the bulk of her years with Carolinas Telco Federal Credit Union in Charlotte, North Carolina as Finance and Operations Manager. Joan retired in the early 90's and resided in various cities near her family over the following years including Waynesboro, GA , Shelby, NC and Murphy, NC. A devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Joan enjoyed gardening, costume design, crafting, musical theater, and playing card and board games with family. She often volunteered her immense talents as a master seamstress with local community theaters and dance organizations throughout the many communities in which she lived.
She is survived by her children - James Henry Hollingsworth (wife Betty) of Cherryville, NC, Janis Hollingsworth Owl (Husband Clifford, Jr.) of Murphy, NC and Jonathan Douglas Hollingsworth (wife Lexie) of Augusta, GA, Grandchildren - Alison Tucker, Jonathan Troy Hollingsworth, Eva Marie Nicho, Patience Owl Snyder, Clifford Owl Ill. Constance Amity Owl, Natalie Belle Hollingsworth, Tyler Hollingsworth, Skylar Christian Tatem, and Cheyenne Angelina Tatem, Great granchildren - Lydia Tucker, Marilyn Tucker, Lacey Tucker, Isaac Hollingsworth, and Ariel Hollingsworth.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother John Douglas Finch and is survived by brothers Terrell Young Finch (wife Rhetta) of Temple, GA, Kenneth Finch (wife Sherry) of Marietta, Michael Eugene Finch (wife Beckie) of Carrollton, GA, Sisters Charlotte Finch Taylor (husband Jerry) of Mineral Bluff, GA and Karon Finch Fickey (husband Edsel) of Gainesville, GA.
Following the wishes of Joan Hollingsworth, a graveside service for family will be held at Midway Presbyterian Church Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 29th.
